Multiple texture variations lend themselves to Laurie’s abstracts in contrast to her realistic paintings. After putting gypsum (joint compound) onto masonite, with brushes, sponges, sticks, fingers & hands, she applies pastels, watercolors, colored pencils, metal gilding, iridescent oil sticks, acrylics, & found objects. Laurie can carve into the chalky textural surface, re-wet it, smear it around, & play!
