Collages

Laurie’s Collage gallery features mixed media and hand-made paper collages. These works are primarily abstract/conceptual, and represent a new direction from her art created before 1991. Elements of texture and color are combined through the use of several mediums including her own hand-made paper, stitched fabric, acrylics on canvas, watercolors on paper, oil pastels, and colored pencils. Intense saturated areas of color add stimulating, provocative notes to contrast the often muted colors of the hand made paper. Found everyday objects such as rhinestone, beads, and zippers add bits of fun and whimsy. Glitter, mirror, and mylar help define some of the concepts represented. Her collages range in size from 8” x 10” to 24” x 20” and larger.
